As well as looking for a reliable product, it's also a good idea to keep the hand sanitiser in your bag and have it dispensed in the palm of your hand. There have been countless times when people have used gel products rather than not disinfecting their hands properly, and then spent long minutes trying to spread it. What should you look for when choosing a hand sanitiser?
Alcohol content
The alcohol content of a hand sanitiser is a major factor in its effectiveness. If possible, use a product that contains at least 60% alcohol. Many disinfectant gels are either very alcoholic, which can smell offensive, or low in alcohol.
Moisturising effect
Hydration is a very important consideration when choosing a hand sanitiser. It is distracting if your hands are dry. Alcohol kills bacteria and viruses, but other ingredients, such as aloe vera and oils, are not only effective but also moisturise our hands.
Ingredients
For users, however, the most tangible problem with hand sanitisers is the sensation they leave after use. Unfortunately, most gels, completely dry out our skin, and as with soaps, less moisturised skin reduces resistance. If you have the option, choose a spray formulation instead.
Fragrance
Fragrance is important for almost everyone. One of the most important factors for hand sanitisers is that the alcohol smell should be accompanied by a fresh, fresh smell, as we don't want to feel like a hospital all day.

HAAN comes to us direct from Spain. The founders, in 2018, embarked on a labor of love - creating an alcohol-based, moisturising hand cleanser with a different look to the rest of the market. As well as creating the product, it was important to pass on value, so they're using 20% of their profits to build water catchment wells in Africa.
